Opportunities for cooperation between the Tashkent Institute of Finance and the United Nations Development Programme have been explored
Today, July 25, 2023, officials of the Tashkent Institute of Finance met with Milliman representatives who were in Uzbekistan as part of a United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) project.
Prof. A. Islamkulov, the institute's Vice-Rector for International Relations, provided an introductory speech to UNDP "Insurance and Risk Finance Facility" project manager O.Gaybullaev, CEO of the UNDP-Milliman Global Actuarial Initiative US office Merideth Randles and programme manager Ong Si, and expert of the US insurance market Edward Moskovski.
The meeting discussed the activities of actuaries in the field of insurance in Uzbekistan, the current status of actuarial training, and the issues of conducting actuarial calculations seminars for students studying in the field of "Insurance" at the Tashkent Institute of Finance, the Tashkent State University of Economics, and the National University of Uzbekistan named after Mirzo Ulugbek.
Milliman stated that it intends to improve the actuarial capability and expertise of local professionals, extend the database in the insurance sector, examine the need for adapting to climate change risk management, and provide assistance to Uzbekistan in this area.
Representatives from the Tashkent Institute of Finance, the Tashkent State University of Economics, and the National University of Uzbekistan attended the meeting, and the future potential for strengthening actuarial education in the nation was explored.
At the end of the event, the manager of the UNDP project, O. Gaybullaev, thanked the administration staff of the Tashkent Institute of Finance Management for the warm reception and invited them to a roundtable discussion with representatives from the Milliman company on July 31, 2023, in the conference hall of the Hilton Tashkent City Hotel.
