The "Banking" department was opened in the first years of the establishment of the Central Asian Financial Institute in the 1930s under the name of the "Monetary circulation and credit" department, and later it was named the "Monetary circulation and credit" department of the Tashkent Institute of National Economy. With the establishment of the Tashkent Financial Institute in 1991, this department operated as the "Money Circulation and Credit" department of this institution. In 1996, the department was named the "Banking" department.
